Say goodbye to electric lighting – Hello plant lighting!

bioluminence, plantOne of the modern day conveniences we’ve come to take for granted is electric lighting. But whenever I’m thinking how I will survive the apocalypse, I’m always saddened by how dark the world will become when electricity stops flowing through the grid. Not any more. Say hello to bio-engineered glowing plants!

A team of geneticists and futurists have started a project on Kickstarter with the aim of developing a bio-luminescent plant. Apocalypse lighting problem solved.

Digital ‘Sensei’ will listen to your problems!

A Kinect-powered digital ’sensei’ will listen and respond conversationally to your problems! This software called SimSensei was developed by a team of scientists at the University of Southern California. It uses a Microsoft Kinect camera to detect body language and emotional states, and engages in conversation.
